Christmas means absolutely nothing now that my kids are grown up, so I don't do anything at all if I can help it. I only put up decorations if people are coming to visit, as I live alone (through choice), and can't be bothered to put them up just for me.

I get thoroughly fed up with the mass hysteria that precedes it and refuse, point blank, to have anything to do with all that shopping, and cooking frenzy. People bankrupt themselves to buy the latest 'must haves' which probably end up at car boot sales the following summer.

I am not a religious person, but feel that Christmas is a Christian celebration and that has become completely lost in all the hype these days. However, people just follow everybody else like sheep, so things will never change.

Shame.

It's always terrible to work on such an international holiday... But Christmas - to me - is just a great time to spend some time with the family & loved ones (it's probably the only time in the year we have with everybody present)! I wish people would take Jesus out of the picture - he was born somewhere in September, not in December. Nowhere in the Bible does it even remotely tell us christians to celebrate his birthday (only his death & resurrection!).
So - in essence - christmas is just a great holiday spending time with loved ones and feeling sorry for those who have to work....!!

To me Christmas means giving, not just gifts, but of ones self. Helping the less fortunate, volunteering at the local hospital, or nursing home. The holidays are especially hard on our troops overseas, a card, or care package is so appreciated, by our soldiers. Check out the Adopt A Soldier website. Get involved. Giving friends and family gifts is wonderful, but only a part of the season of giving.

It means spending time with love ones, watch in the snow falling, cuddling by the fire, listening to Christmas music, eating a big feast, getting presents, feeling the love of others,

Its a wonderful time of the year. One of my favorites.

Wow - I love Christmas. First off, for the religious meaning - a chance to reflect on hope, on joy, to rededicate myself to love and service. Leading up to it, we up our charity work and volunteering.

We missed the holidays last year after a death in the family, but this year, we're putting up the lights the day after Halloween. We'll visit neighborhoods with cool light displays, listen to holiday music, work on donations for charity, see friends and family.

On C-Eve, it's time to build a big fire in the little fireplace, gather our very small family (husband, me, mother-in-law, dogs), drink hot tea, talk about everything under the sun, relax. Most of our family's scattered around the world, but I've come to love our quiet Christmases.

Christmas we relax in our pj's, watching Christmas specials on dvd, talk, laugh a lot, play with the dogs. Great question - thanks for letting me anticipate the coming holidays!

Christmas symbolizes the birth of Jesus.
People forget that.
Christmas isnt presents and santa, thats tradition.
My family does all of the gift giving, tree decoration and big dinner, but we always keep Christ the root
