Sure, why not! I was told when I was little that toadstolls/mushrooms that grow my backyard are gnomes and elves to keep me from picking them or eating them. So, yeah, I can see butterflies and dragonflies as fairies.

No...faeries are a myth and impossible. A faerie is a little person with wings...it's impossible for a minature person to be held by little delcate wings and if they die, they turn into pixie dust...it's just a myth.
