THIS is not a DYI project. It would be coming from a public utility and they would have to take care of installation or tell you someone who is approved and they will inspect it after installation...

does gas co supply it in your area. if not now will they add a line? call them first.
you may need a licensed contractor and permits from the city or county or parish.
the local gas co your first call, usually can also explain local rules and regs.. they do construction services up to the house, but not in it here.

that all depends on where you live. if you are in a rural area or urban area and if there is service near you.
