She's putting pressure on her gums because that's what relieves the pain. I don't think there's a reason to be concerned, but just in case try giving her something else to chew on. Rubbing your fingers along her gum would soothe it and so would chewing on a cold wet washcloth. Don't give her a frozen teething ring because it could bruise her gums and possibly even cause frostbite. A refridgerated teething ring would do wonders though.

She's just putting pressure on her gums to try to relieve the pain. When she's up for the day, the cool wet washcloth is a great idea, because it soaks up most of her excess drool too. When you're getting her ready for bed, give her a q-tip with some natural vanilla extract on it. The vanilla has a natural anasthetic in it that'll help her feel good enough to sleep, and it usually lasts a good three or four hours, and it works faster than motrin or tylenol.

Yes this is normal. She is putting pressure on her gums to help push her teeth up. Part of what chewing does, when they are teething.

She is probably looking for something to bite down on, let her have a teething ring to chew if you haven't already, and keep the Calpol close by!
