Once NATO commits, it doesn't cut bait and run. It's intention is not to invade Afghanistan, it is to rid it of the vermin called Taliban.

Your question makes no sense. NATO didn't attack Afghanistan, actually it has replaced American units that were deployed there. The American troops are still in Afghanistan, some are under NATO command, and others are special ops units , tracking down the enemy, yet still under US command.

If the Taliban are gaining ground, it is costing them dearly. The casualty counts are really excessive for the Taliban. This isn't the same terrain as in Iraq, the wide open spaces of Afghanistan do not offer the Taliban freedom of movement, like the urban areas of Baghdad. It's a different war altogether, so for the Taliban to employ the same techniques as the insurgency in Iraq, just doesn't make good sense.

Have you forgotten the US has the consent of the people of afganistan. There is no occupation to supress the people by the UN or the US as Russia and Britain tried in earlier times.
