I have the same computer and am an avid Half-Life 2 fan.
If it doesn't run the demo, then it probably won't run the game.
You will need to upgrade to run it well and you should probably look at the suggested system requirements for things like Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and 2 system requirements.

basically, it's a great looking game, so lots of ram, fast processor, good video card, and enough space to install it is what you'll need.

"good enough" is a very relative term. Is it "good enough to RUN" Half Life 2, yes it should be. It will not run it well, you will need to lower most if not all of your settings.

If you are a gamer and want the graphics and good performance then no, get a new system. If you try to upgrade that one you'll just be spending too much $.

Will it run it, yes. Will it run it decently, no. You really need a new video card, and some extram RAM would help, but overall that computer is getting a tad outdated to play current games.
