Nader doesn't have the backing of special interests, lobbyists, media or industrial/military. Also, he comes off as strange to the American public in general, though that doesn't mean he is a bad candidate; what it does mean is Americans generally want the easy choice, and they want someone to make it for them.
That means the propaganda and backing of (see above)....
By the way, if people can vote for someone named "Bush"..well, then Ralph isn't too bad I suppose :)

Because Ralph Nader has lost the election more times than we've HAD elections. The Green Party (who, by the way, DROPPED Ralph Nader before the 2004 election, because he couldn't win) only has a plan for the environment, a la their name.
Protecting the environment is very important, more so than some people believe, but there are more pressing issues which can be solved in the shorter term (repairing our environment will take quite some time.) We need someone who has plans on every issue, not just one. That is why "one-issue" parties, such as the Green Party, will never win the White House.
In the future, a third party may, but it won't be anything like the Green Party.

Nader fails for one simple reason....his views don't dictate to the majority....and the Republican/Democratic parties ARE the majority.
Also, since his party is nothing more than Green Peace in politics....and there are other pressing issues beyond environmental caretaking to consider, his party will never win in the White House. Too many people frankly couldn't give a rip, and care moreso upon health care, employment, naturalization and immigration, etc etc....that there are other parties to pay attention to.
Also, Nader's just a nut.
The bi-partisan government we have is a failed system, and as more and more younger generations grow and register as Independant (like myself for example)...the bipartisanism of our nation will eventually fall by the wayside.
As that infamous quote goes : "The revolution will not be televised."

People won't vote for Nader because it basically won't make any difference. Most people feel strongly for or against Republicans so will vote accordingly. Plus Greens don't have the money to fund such ridiculous campaigns...I shouldn't know this, I'm from Britain...

Green party doesn't have enough support, simply put. And chances are they never will. The Republicans and the Democrats are always going to be the two to go head to head.

Because you have to be close enough to the mainstream to get people to see you as serious. Nader is too far out in left field. Smart guy but slanted way too much in one direction to be taken seriously by the mainstream. Or at least that is the impression.

My sense is that he doesn't run to win but rather raise the issues that the major parties don't talk about. This is generally true of most 'green" candidates.

Because he's an idiot? No seriously, I agree with the other gent on here...Why does he keep running? Ever heard of Nader's Raiders? They did 'safety raids' years ago on small business and classrooms.
