What's your take on Joe Buck. I think he is quite possibly the worst announcer I have ever heard in my entire life. He is so bad, that when I see him announcing, I immediatlt turn the game off. Now, I'm out here in California. I don't have any friends who disagree with me. I think the guy is riding his dad's coat tails. Jack Buck is one of the greatest announcers ever. His son is a moron and needs to learn how to announce with some exciteemnt, even when his preciuous Cardinals are losing.

Cork, if you think Joe Buck is a good announcer, then you have a lot to learn about what makes an announcer good. Out here in the Bay Area we have two of the best announcers around with Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper. Both know baseball, both know how to call it. Joe Buck knows nothing about baseball. Thus, he does not know how to call it. Same with footbal.

Joe Buck doesn't impress me. Neither do Joe Morgan or Jon Miller (who is OK). Tim McCarver is the worst in my opinion. For the decent player that he was, he shows very little insight into the game & contradicts himself every other inning.
Where have all the good opnes gone? I never liked any of the Carays (including Skip and especially Harry), but Ernie Harwell, jack Buck, Curt Gowdy - excellent. But who's around today? For my money the best announcers I've ever heard were Vin Scully & Joe Tait. Scully's the only one I know of who still does baseball.
Interesting that you should mention Duane Kuiper. I didn't know he stayed in the Bay Area after he retired from the Giants, but I remember him as one of the better players on some very bad and very mediocre Indians teams when I was in high school. OK BA for a middle infielder (around .265 - .280 to my recollection) & pretty good fielder. Thanks for the blast from the past!

Most baseball fans prefer listening to the announcer that they are used to hearing.
Joe Buck is a very good announcer as is Jon Miller and Vin Scully.
I also happen to know a whole lot about baseball; just because someone does not like a particular announcer does not mean squat.

His father Jack was a hall of fame broadcaster for the Cardinals for many, many years. Jack was great, son Joe is not! Surprisingly he doesn't seem to know the game or it's history very well considering he must have been around it all of his childhood. He spreads himself too thin with football and those silly commercials. He should learn to do just one thing but do it better than anyone else. You'd think he would have learned that from his father.

You couldn't be more correct - Buck is embarassingly bad when it comes to do anything outside of play-by-play, and he's not even great with that.. His commentaries are almost always incorrect, or just plain wrong (such as calling Larry Bowa Cooperstown-bound, which almost made me choke).
The worst part is that he keeps getting more and more assignments for Fox, which means I have to hear him more regularly.
I've got XM, so I usually just have the game on while I listen to the radio broadcast. There are dozens of better guys than Buck out there right now.

it incredibly is like followers at a ballgame. whilst a small extensive kind strengthen into belligerent and those annoying "followers" start to dominate the section, the real baseball followers many times: - forget approximately them - ask them to act - call protection. protection is lame and/or the undesirable actors sneak decrease back into the stadium - watch as different annoying followers connect the gang - get up and flow away After some video games like this, the real baseball followers will end going to the video games. it fairly is what could be occurring in this internet site. The immature, annoying and nameless trolls see the end result they have on the real followers right here. because of the fact the real followers announce their departure or ***** in questions like this, the trolls strengthen into extra emboldened understanding they are prevailing their interest. they have not have been given any know for baseball or different consumers. As mentioned right here earlier, as long because of the fact the trolls get interest, they'll proceed. end feeding the trolls.

I don't like Joe Buck either. He's always doing Yankee games in the summer and fall and doesn't do a good job. Our local networks or ESPN should get Yankee games not Fox. Besides, every time a game is on Fox, the game starts around the :40 instead of :05. That is very annoying.

Joe Buck is okay and yes, he does need some excitement in his voice.
But I like the tone of it.
Nothing compared to Joe Morgan.
Joe Morgan is the worst!
He can't even keep track of the game 'cause he's too busy
talking about past games and who did what 50 years ago.
Like we care!
And he should stop putting up those graphics that block
my view of sweet A-Rod!
Well, thanks for letting me vent anyway.

Since you are from the bay area, just turn off the tv sound and listen to Jon Miller on the radio. Nobody else is that thrilled with him, but Giant fans love him.

He's OK, but just OK. He has his jobs in announcing because he has a good voice and a famous dad. I would rather watch a game with just about any other announcer.
