ITS ALWAYS BEEN A TRADITION WITH MY FAMILY TO SET THE TREE UP ON THANKGIVING NIGHT. SO IT CAN FORM AND NOT LOOK LIKE WE JUST TOOK IT OUT OF THE BOX. THEN WE WOULD PULL OUT ALL OUR DECORATIONS AND SEE WHAT WE HAD AND IF WE NEEDED ANYTHING ELSE,AND TO SEE IF THE LIGHTS STILL WORKED,CAUSE LORD KNOW THE LIL LIGHT GRIMLINGS WILL SNITCH A LIGHT BULD OR BREAK A FEW,LOL. AND IF WE NEED ANYTHING MOM WOULD GO TO WAL-MART AND GET WHAT WE NEDED AND WE WOULD DECORATE IT NIGHT AFTER THINKSGIVING. pop popcorn and have egg nog. we also hung real peppermint sticks on there. its great and i till have that traditon here with my kids.

When I was younger, my dad was only home on weekends, minus Thanksgiving, and Christmas. So we would help him put the tree up on the weekend before Thanksgiving, and spend the next three or four days decorating it when he wasn't home. Then on Thanksgiving Day, while he was home, one of us would light it for the first time, and it would stay on all day.

It would then be split between myself, my brother, and my sister, until Christmas, each of us taking turns lighting it at night. We would plug in the cord around 6:30pm, and my mom would unplug it around 9:00pm when we went to bed. Christmas Day is the only other time it would stay on all day long.

I only remember having a real tree once, as I grew up. That year, we put up the tree in mid-December, and it was mulched the day after Christmas. But other than that one year, we have put up the tree the weekend before Thanksgiving every year.

After we have a huge Thanksgiving lunch and take a nap, then the whole family goes to the Christmas tree farm to pick out a tree. So, we put ours up on Thanksgiving day and we have "family time" decorating it. Thats been a family tradition for the past 50 something years. I just can't wait. I am ready for the holiday season.

Always later than I expect to, because Christmas takes me by surprise. You'd think I'd know by now, but it just seems like after Halloween, BOOM! it's Thanksgiving, then BOOM! it's Christmas. I'm never ready.

Anyway, we go out as a family and cut down our own fresh tree at a nearby tree farm. It's always an adventure, and I love the fresh smell! It lasts til after New Years, too! And then the branches become mulch for my roses, so nothing goes to waste.

Oops, I never really answered, did I? Around mid-December.

If it's an artificial tree, the day after Thanksgiving is traditional. If it's a live tree, the week before Christmas. You don't want it drying out too much.

Our tree is a skinny "permanent" tree. It goes in the corner by the window in our home. We put it up about 10 days before Christmas. If I have the day off on the 26th, that's when it comes down.

By tradition in Germany the Christmas Tree (Weihnachtsbaum) is set up and decorated on Christmas Eve morning. Some people had adopted the North American ideals and set it up the end of November, but these are usually young - american influenced people.

OMG some people have them up right after Halloween! It's like overkill man!
I won't put mine up until the beginning of December, 2nd weekend of at the latest. I think Christmas is totally shoved down our throats, and is no longer about love and peace and joy. Putting up my tree early just makes it feel like the commercialism has started earlier than it has to. I enjoy the season for what it means. Happiness, Family, and Jesus Christ.

We have a fake tree so we put it up on December 1st...usually. For a real tree, I would probably put it up a few weeks before X-mas. It's always fun any way you do it.

Usually the first of December but since we've gone artificial I'm thinking the day after Thanksgiving.

About the second weekend in December. Usually I go get one on Saturday and put it up in the evening to thaw, then decorate on Sunday.

Can't wait. After this year I could use some Holiday happiness! :-)
