a flat tax of 15 %
or a graduated flat tax would work quite well say
(rough draft subject to economic analysis)
up to 50 thousand 10%
up to 200 thousand 17%
over 200 thousand 18%
tagged to inflation so when inflation go up so does the level amounts
however you should be able to give a part of your earning to someone else such as a child in school to lower your taxable about as well as to charity also I would allow it in a collage fund
also I would allow a family discount for kids of 2 percent for the first 2% for the second 2 %% for the 3rd 1% and 0% for the 4th and beyond with a minimum 8% tax so under 50K you can only write off one kid of course if a couple makes under 50 thousand together how can they afford more

Absolutely! Just get rid of it and adopt the Fair Tax plan now. What isn't fair about a national sales tax on new items? The rich will still buy new and pay taxes. The poor will still buy used and pay no taxes. Prices will drop because companies won't have to boost prices 25% because of taxes. It's a win win. No complicated forms, no IRS (yes, No expensive tax services).

Absolutely !! Replace it with a flat tax, say 15% of whatever your earnings are. If you make $100,000 per year, you own $15,000. You could file your tax return on a post card. But, alas it will never happen. The tax attorney's, CPA's, H&r Blocks of the world will never allow it. "we the people" MUST demand change from our elected representatives. If they don't respond, fire them. By that I mean at the ballot box. Vote EVERY incombent out of office REGARDLESS OF PARTY AFFILIATION.

You are right. The present system is faulty and difficult. I have heard that a flat tax would be an improvement. The Fed should also be done away with.

Yes. It would save an incredible amount of money. Besides taxes, accounting fees and record keeping cost eat up unnecessary money. A system as you suggest would boost the economy.
