Good question.
I think my money would be on Superman only because along with his strength he also has somewhat of a mind.
Where the Hulk (while in Hulk state) is lucky but brainless.
Actually, Marvel did somewhat of a parallel to this years ago where Hulk and Thor fought but I don't remember how it turned out.
Now Thor vs Superman would be interesting???
In that one I think I would have to go with Thor.

I'd say Hulk wins, but just barely.
At his strongest (not counting Golden Age Superman) Hulk is every bit as strong as Superman, and just as tough. He might not have impenatrable skin but Hulk has regerative powers that Superman doesn't. In a no Holds Barred battle to the end Supes just wouldn't be able to cope with Hulk's tenacity. Hulk would just keep coming and wear the Big Blue Boyscout down. Much like Doomsday did (and Yes, I'll even say that Hulk has more brains than Doomsday did)....
And just to cut off the "Well Superman could just fly Hulk into the sun" argument, it is a long way to the sun. 92,955,807 miles to be exact... and at his fastest flight speed Superman can (theoretically) move at 93,141 miles per second (half the speed of light). At that speed it would take him almost 20 minutes or so to get to the sun... that is a long time to hold onto Ol' Green Genes. Plus Hulk Probally has a larger lung capacity than Superman. This means that in an airless enviroment he would last longer in a vacume, even when struggling. So Hulk has a better chance at winning...
And why is this the most asked about comicbook fight ever?

Superman definitely. The hulk is outrageously strong but does not think about anything accept hitting things with blind fury if he can hit it. Superman can think on his feet and is a lot faster than the hulk. Superman could wait the hulk out until he got calmed down and when he's in his weak human form superman could go in for the kill.

DC and Marvel already had a Superman/Hulk crossover.
They fought until Superman knocked him unconsciousness by sucking all the oxygen away from the Hulk.

The hulk would easily win this one.
Maybe superman could beat some of the lesser incarnations of the hulk like the grey hulk.
But the hulk never tires and can't be hurt, tank shells bounce off of him. All superman's little eyebeams could do is annoy the hulk. all superman's punches would do is annoy him. And the more annoyed and angry hulk gets, the stronger he gets.
Superman has no chance and when it comes to fighting he is just as brainless as the hulk. The only difference is that while they might begin at the same stregth, the hulk will get stronger as the fight goes on.
Besides, superman regularly gets his *** handed to him by batman.
superman wouldn't be much of a match for thor, maybe he should take on someone more his speed like aunt may?

No doubt about it: Superman. Although maybe the relative strengths of Superman and the Hulk were on par, Superman just has too many other powers that the Hulk couldn't deal with.
If I were Superman, and I was taking on the Hulk, I'd use my heat vision to annoy him from way up in the air, miles away. When he got distracted enough, I would fly around so fast (super-speed) he couldn't see me coming, I'd circle around from behind, bulldoze underground, lift up the land underneath him (so he couldn't even touch me), fly him and the dirth quickly up, up and away into outspace, and then fling the both of them into the Sun. Done. If he managed to jump off the rock as it was hurtling towards the sun, I'd cut him off, blow the remaining air out of my super-lungs to blow him back on course towards the sun. Inertia would then carry him into the nuclear furnance. Done and done.

If Hulk is able to get some krytonite then he will win, but if not he'll run out of juice, and superman will beat his @$$.
