MOLD!!!!
For inside area's there are some different ways to get rid of mold.
1. 50/50 bleach/water solution (could damage wood surfaces)
2. Fabreeze for furniture
For outside wood:
If the mold has formed on the outside, assuming the finish is in good shape, the mold has not penetrated the wood so you just have to remove it from the surface. A good washing with trisodium phosphate (TSP) will probably take care of that. Just don't soak it or you might damage the finish.
You can try to find a disenfectant that will work on this finish without too much damage, so that the bacteria is destroyed, but the shine is still there. Try a dilluted cleaner that is fairly nondestructive, a dish soap in cold water. Start in a hidden area's and see if the results are good. If not keep at it till you have somthing that works and leaves the finish alone. I think a watered down Pinesol or 1/3 bleach and 2/3 cold water may work best. The question is what will work on your particular finish, certainly the insides are ok for bleach. Just don't get things too wet for too long. Work in small areas and wipe dry often.

I'm going to chime in here and say that I don't think that it would cause a musty smell. My brother had respiratory issues, so we always had a dehumidifier when I was growing up, and we used the water to water the dogs, water the plants, etc. and it always smelled just fine.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.
