When I get startled, I immediately feel an itching/pinching sensation in three places: my armpits, the inside of my ear, and around my groin. Why does that happen? I hope I'm not the only one who experiences this!

You know what-that was extremely rude. I' not crazy at all, it's just something I happen to get. Maybe I'm breaking a sweat because I'm nervous. You should be ashamed of yourselves for insulting me like that.

All of this has to do with nerve endings. You are not weird, strange or abnormal. I am sorry that people insulted you like that. People that don't have comments that could actually help you should not say rude things.

Ok, off my soapbox! You might want to have accupuntcure done if the pain in blinding or if you get really itchy(Is it like the itchy you get when you are in the shower and get out and it is cold? Like under the skin itchy?) If, so it is autosensoratory. Everyone has expecienced this feeling at some point in time. Your nervous system must feel that this is the right response fear. If the symptoms of fear are to much for you to handle then you can see a accupunturist or even a general practioner and a medication such as paxil or zoloft will help with the calming of the nervous system. Good Luck!

To answer your question, no it has never happened to me in those places. However, I do break out in a rash in certain places due to prolonged stress.

What I am really commenting on is your response to the first couple of posters. You came back at them in a very tactful manner and you were not rude about it. That is very commendable on your part.

You know that's odd, but nothing to worry about. You've got lots of nerve endings in those places, and also some discharge which can stimulate those nerve endings. When you get startled your senses are heightned. So I would say it's all normal.

It is related to your "fight or flight response" and the reason you feel it in those places is because that is where you have the type of hair that can become stimulated by nerves! The tiny muscles that support the hair shaft actually make the little hairs stand on end, and that is why they feel itchy/pinchy!

It's called nervous or shy or embarassment or scared or suprised. You itchy because you get uncomfortable. I experience this during plays.
