The executor should first file the will with the court, open a probate estate, then publish the existence of the probate case so creditors can file their claims. The executor is responsible for paying claims and passing out the money according to the will, but it is done under court supervision. There is no need for a formal reading of the will.

The executor is responsible for paying all of decedent's bills and then disbursing the left over funds to the devisees or heirs. There usually is no official reading of the Will as shown on television. If you are doing a probate, either formal or informal, the procedures must be filed. The court will allow the estate to be closed once all of the bills are paid, assets are liquidated and heirs and devisees are paid.
