I was just messing about in the startup tab in msconfig and thought I'd have a browse around but when I got to the WIN.INI tab I found something pretty weird - I've taken a screenshot, does anyone have any ideas of what it could be? It's just a bunch of scrambled letters O.o

I dont know what that is, but for others who may know, the numbers are lkliohkjhkw2 and nnhgh87hjhkj12=1146930305
after googling it, there are 3 sites 2 of which are in french, one talks of spy sweeper and some antivirus that he doesnt know. sorry I cant help, but you can uncheck it, if somthing stops functioning then re check it. NO HARM WILL BE DONE, it is not important to the functioning of windows!

Try these programs too: http://www.ccleaner.com/ It will fix errors on windows.
and make sure you have only one firewall and anti-virus program going at a time. More then one of each will cause conflicts. If you do not have one then this one is a good anti-virus program http://www.avast.com/

First disable it. That could be an adware
You should have virus installed. It'll protect you.
If you don't, get it somewhere & do full system scan.
