Nothing! I do know however that the ongoing battle between religions is the greatest threat on Earth today. Why?

No mis-conceptions, nothing I really wish to ask, and although I know very little, the more knowledge I collect, the more negativity I feel.I keep my opinions to myself, as it is just that,My opinion, but when I wish to enquire about this serious subject, it certainly wont be from a single person on here. But I do agree with Phobia, todays Muslims, specially the extremists, are a far cry from the Prophet Mohammad pbuh.

Islam - the most misunderstood religion on earth. Yet, it is the fastest growing religion on earth.

Muslims (followers of Islam faith) have no power nor ability to force you to become Muslims. However, they are commanded to spread the word. That's all. If you like the whole concept of Islam, accept it, else reject it. It's your own freewill.

True and faithful Muslims don't force others to become Muslims.
True and faithful Muslims don't kill innocent people.
True and faithful Muslims aren't even allowed to damaged buildings, trees and cattle. Let alone woman and children.
True and faithful Muslims are commanded not only to forgive and show compassion to prisoners of war, but also to protect and grant a safe passage to a safe location and release them.

The best model of a true and faithful Muslims is prophet Muhammad pbuh and his companions up to the third generation. Muslims today aren't even close in character and charisma like the earlier Muslims. Muslims today are just rubbish compared to the early Muslims. Thus, if you degrade or find fault in Islam, it is partly our own fault. But, that doesn't mean Islam is totally unacceptable. Because actions of its followers does not present the true Islam.

Therefore, don't understand Islam from the action of present Muslims. Understand Islam from the source, i.e. prophet Muhammad pbuh, his companions who lived up to the third generation. For example, movies like Kingdom of Heaven will be a good start.

May Allah show you peace.

I've read the Qu'ran (in English translation) and several articles about the early history of Islam. So I know about the origin of the Shias.

I'm not really clear as to how present day differences emerged, like the kind of Islam in Turkey as compared to Wahabism and Islam in Indonesia.

Religion...all religions the same...used at convenience, when it suits!!!! to be victims...
islam....hmmmm well I agree with Jack Straw. If they live here then they must be prepared to attune themselves to our customs and that is not by wearing headgear that reveals only womens eyes....how do you communicate with someone that is addorned in black...with eyes....with no expression, no emotion and most of all "distance" from anyone! Well I guess that is the whole purpose, so who is racist then? I know that most whites accept muslims that do not shove it down their throat! But muslims that "alienate" themselves do not serve to be accepted by white society, we find a characterless black female figure extremely hard to comminucate with.
I know that the muslim religion promotes great things and I do respect that but in the western sociey I feel the extremism does not fit, afterall most arabic countries still live in the dark ages where women are not respected.

I know about the 5 pillars of Islam:

1. There is no god worthy of worship except God and Muhammad is His messenger.

2. Salat is the name for the obligatory prayers which are performed five times a day, and are a direct link between the worshipper and God.

3. One of the most important principles of Islam is that all things belong to God, and that wealth is therefore held by human beings in trust.

4. Every year in the month of Ramadan, all Muslims fast from first light until sundown, abstaining from food, drink, and sexual relations.

5.The annual pilgrimage to Makkah - the Hajj - is an obligation only for those who are physically and financially able to perform it.

I know lots and lots about Islam but I also know that I can never know everything. From this question I have learnt that people feel the need to demonise Muslims and generally speak badly about them and at the same time they have no intention of actually learning a thing or two before they do, and they are quite happy to acknowledge this fact. Very sad.

I have no need to know anything about a false religion such as Islam.
The educated already know that it's a religion used by a corrupt few elitists at the top of the food chain to control the poor, uneducated masses.

hey, taqwa I've never seen more ignorant people in my life, and i have never been more insulted as a muslim. You were asking people if they had questions, yet they just insulted the whole religion, when someone asks you if, you want to know somthing , you ask questions you dont answer your own questions and if you have nothing good to say it shouldnt be said at all.....sorry taqwa if you feel any disrespect.
