Do you have to wear a denim mini skirt with black leggings or will a black mini look alright also?
And I really don't know about styles/colours of tops to go with this outfit at all.
Opinions please?

keep the denim.
black on black wouldnt look as good.
with leggings you could also wear a long pancho/frock style shirt with a large belt around the waste and ballerina slippers- Hot!

I love the leggings look, but you need to keep the whole thing 80s style or it'll look a mess. It's very fashionable to do the whole sweater dress, big belt and platforms look but if you don't want to follow the formula, they can look cute with any little skirt and ballet pumps or heels. The great thing about black is that it goes with most things, but if you go for a black skirt, it's best to have a different colour skirt.

The color of your top can be whatever goes with black, which is any color, really. That is, unless your skirt is something other than denim or black.
Minis and leggings are pretty popular. You can also wear leggings with sundresses and pretty tunics (longer tops that generally reach the thighs).
As for shoes, flats would look really cute.

if i were you i would wear just a denim skirt black on black doesn't look right. and for a top were a long sleeve shirt with a winter vest over top of it

Ok well you can't really wear black leggings with any color skirt eccept a denim mini idk why but it just doesn't look right for some reason. but you can't go wrong with a denim mini they are just sooooooo freakin cute!!! i have like 7!!!

To answer part of your question: a (long) tunic-style top.Not necessary to bother with the skirt, if the top is right, and long enough.

ok well denim is always the right choice and then go with flats as your shoes and a tight shirt that really looks good on you

I have a really cute black and white striped mini that I wear with mine. I got it for three dollars because I am AMAZING. :D

any skirt...but its a dumb style unless you are 12 y/o or younger...it was ugly in the late 80's...its ugly now
