I would go with Howard. He is a rebounding machine, a good scorer, and has a horrible free throw percentage. Plus, he is on the magic just like Shaq was.

I'd have to say Yao, because he's the only one with the physical tools to dominate the game anywhere near the level that Shaq did in his prime.

Howard doesn't have the frame. In order to be a strong as Shaq he'd hbe too heavy top be able to play his finesse game.

Since I'm a Buckeyes fan to the core I hope Oden will be awesome, but he hasn't even shown anything in the NCAA yet, let alone the NBA. I'll bet few remember that Shaq was as dominating in the NCAA as he was in high school & that because he refined his game at LSU he was a force starting in his 2nd year w/the Magic. If Oden is the player at OSU that O'Neal was was at LSU, look out Final Four. Could be OSU as national champs in football & basketball this year (yeah baby)

Bynum will melt under the glare of the LA lights & Kobe will never allow him to become the player he might be.

The Next Shaq.... DOES EXIST.... he will come along....Dwight Howard is the closest with a mixture of playing similarity and potential talent... but Howard still doesn't match up to Shaq... in playing style...

I think Andrew Bynum will be the futures closest Shaq-Like Center in PLAYING style.... Andrew Bynum will probably never get as good as Shaq.... but with a bit of luck he'll get CLOSE....

There is not a player currently in the NBA that will be as dominate as Shaq was in his prime. The league at this time has a deficiency of quality big men. No one else is able to command the types of double teams that Shaq was in his earlier years. His sheer size and athleticism caused many teams to cover him with their players at the 4 and 5 spot (this is why Hoarce Grant was able to be so productive from ten to fifteen feet away during Shaq's first couple of years). The premier big men in the league at the time were getting older (Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, etc.) which made Shaq that much harder to play one on one. LeBron James will be one of the leagues best players for a long time but he has contemporaries (D Wade, Anthony, even veterans like Pierce, and V. Carter) that may not compare to him in sheer talent, but night in and night out are at least able to offer their own respective teams a player that will force him to expend energy on the defensive end of the floor. When Shaq played in the East (the first time around) he didn't have anyone to do that to him. When he was with the Lakers, he was able to defer to Kobe offensively if he was spent from playing defense. So I do not believe that there will be another player as dominate as Shaq in the near future.

Yao Ming, though not similar in style, is similiar is skill level already. Don't even think about it, Yao will be as good as Shaq ever was, in dominance and stats. Just watch. Dwight Howard? Not now, nuh-uh. It's gonna be all Yao, man.

Lebron James ft% has no longer greater in any respect. He has been soaring around seventy 5% for type of seven years in a row. Kobe shoots 80 4% for his occupation. Michael Jordan additionally shot 80 4% for his occupation.
