Here is the thing, most Americans are not interested in "football" or soccer as we like to call it. Now personally, I lived in Italy, and have been indoctrinated into the culture of rooting for and supporting the Italian National Team and Juventus Fanatically...sorry if you aren't a Juve fan. As for the soccer, you are correct the Italian National Team and Serie A are leaps and bounds ahead of US Soccer. Personally the players are ones that I have followed for years and continue to root for. Americans don't HATE the Italian Team they JUST DON'T CARE.

My dad was born in Italy so we love the Italian national team actually we love everything Italian.

not all the americans are italian team haters. we support US first and then when US is out, we support the next best team we like or prefer. see we have freedom to root for whichever team we like. its not like we have to like one particular team just because everyone likes it and suppose to like it. on the other hand, i have to give Italy their props. they were pretty good this year. congrats!!!
go drink and enjoy and stop worrying about americans plz!!

A Franco-American's answer:
1- I prefer French and Italian movies.
2- I prefer Algerian, Jamaican and Louisiana music.
3- I don't eat hotdogs, I don't know what's in them.
4- I don't drink soda, I prefer red wine from France, Spain and Italy
5- Those jeans aren't made here anymore but in China
6- Moon, I'm not sure.
Ok, you rule in soccer but France rules in Football.
You are no Italian, you are Canadian.
