the ultimate perfect unimprovable never-to-be-topped version was, like they said, by Eva Cassidy. She redeemed that song from fifties cheese purgatory.

Hello,

The best version I have ever heard is on the end credits of 'Joe Black' which is an Antony Hopkins film. Its a man singing it and its mixed with ' its a wonderful world'. Essex Jock if you get a chance to listen to this version do so. It's a very touching song. Other than that the best version i have ever heard is the Eva Casidy version. She had a lovely voice and it makes you very teary eyed to listen to it. xx

Truly, we all think of Judy when we hear that song, Man that woman had a vocal range far better that Tori, though I love Miss Amos too. When Judy Garland first started The studio (MGM) didn't know quite what to do with her. Shirley Temple was almost going to fill the role of Dorothy but her voice couldn't match Judy. Too bad MGM kept giving her diet pills and Seconal to go up and down all the time, but couldn't teach her basic life skills, like balancing a checkbook.

The best version ever is by Israel Kamakawiwoole. Unfortunately the big Hawaiian died at just 38 years old. After you have heard his haunting version, every other is in second place.

Katherine McPhee has sang it very recently.

The one before her, and my personal favourite, was Eva Cassidy. Hers just seems to have a real meaning to it.

Its spooky you should ask this, I've had the song in my head for a couple of days now.

That song has been covered so many times, you could be talking about anybody! Male or female?

Katherine McPhee from American Idol recently did a really good version of it...
