Arrested Development. It was amazingly written and perfectly casted. If you've never seen it I recommend going to Blockbuster and renting season 1 (you need to start there since the whole series is one big long story). Once you watch it you'll realize it was the best. Just sad that it never caught on. Then the Office and the Simpsons are a tie for second. The Office since it's so damn funny and the Simpsons for the same reason and the fact that it's the longest running sitcom on TV.

I believe The Simpsons will go down as the greatest cartoon sitcom ever because of its creativity, challenge of norms directly and very clever innuendo.

Seinfeld will run a very close second because of the imagination of the writers that far surpasses any non-slapstick sitcom that I have ever seen.

I have to choose "The Cosby Show" but not for obvious reasons.

It was hilarious, but a lot of people don't remember that before Cosby, there were virtually no sitcoms on television because they were not getting good ratings (you could count on one hand how many sitcoms were on).

But Cosby reinvigorated the sitcom genre and paved the way for Friends, Frazier, Seinfeld, etc. Even the critics agree!

I HAVE to give a hats off to him!

The Cosby show was the greatest sitcom ever because it relates to everyday familys situation and I never get tired of watching it.

Friends. Years 1-8 are hilarious, and then it tailed off towards the end. We spent the 300 bucks to get them all on DVD. The simpsons is the currently best show on TV, but overall friends gets the nod. What the hell has happened to family guy this year? That used to be the funniest show on TV and I don't think I've even chuckled at it this season. Get it together!

Um, The Simpsons is the best sitcom ever. It's relevant and irreverent, and it's animated so they can do anything they want, like send Homer to the moon, and thus, make fun of absolutely anything.

Married with Children, followed closely by the Simpsons. They were funny and stay funny no matter how many times you might have seen an episode. Why is anything funny. Irony, absurdity.

All in the Family- It was cutting edge, highly controversial for the times, and it dealt with all issues of the world at the time in a humorous way, but it made you think about everything.

M*A*S*H.

It covered the gambit of human emotions & taught us to laugh and to see the humor even in the worst situations imaginable. It took traits of people we know in our everyday life & magnified them into the glaringly obvious, so their characters were easily identified with by those who watched. And the actors working an ensamble cast all had excellent timing and delivery with each other.
