Why does misspelled words,and bad grammar irritate you so bad? Why are we so critical of other people?

I can tell you that I try to be a perfectionist when it comes to my writing. I mean writing is the one form of communication that you can actually correct before anyone else hears it. Adding to the fact that my major of study in college is English Literature. It does not annoy me that other people have bad grammar though. Everyone has different skills and talents. It bothers me when I have bad grammar because it is something I can prevent.

I know foreigners who speak/write better English. It's pathetic. It is not a criticism of the person, but of his/her ability to communicate. Also, it makes one appear to be less intelligent/educated than one actually is. It is also distracting because I dont expect what is next. I read the sentence you wrote, expecting a logical sequence, but found it to be illogical. This is not to say you are an illogical person. It simply means that when I read "does" I anticipate a single subject, but when the subject turns out to be plural, I get messed up. It isn't as though I correct EVERY mistake I hear and see, I know people mess up, but when they mess up a lot, it is irritating becuase I think, speak and write correct grammar and I have a hard time understanding people who use improper grammar. Let adverbs be adverbs and adjectives be adjectives. It just seems as though a person who has been speaking a languauge his/her entire life would know the language. The spelling and grammar are WRONG, which is the truth. Can it not be left at that? I understand English, and that isn't English. Can you honestly say there is nothing people frequently get wrong that doesn't bother you?

It bothers me, I spell check everything. Ebonics doesn't bother me, its when people try to sound educated and only end up sounding ignorant.
