Have you seen the doctor about your heavy periods? Having to change a Super Plus tampon after 4 hours is not normal.

Suggestions:

Since I started wearing tampons in 1993, I have been sleeping with them. They're the only things that work overnight because the pads aren't enough protection. I put a clean one in before going to bed. I have never had any problems.

When I used to wear pads, I took a towel to bed with me to lie on and to catch the mess. You can try that. You can also try wearing two pads together by removing the lining from one of them. I don't know if you can do either one of those with the present-day pads because they stick in your underwear. The old pads you could because they were worn on their own with a belt.

The last resort is setting your alarm so that you can wake up to change your tampon or pad in the middle of the night.

ADDED COMMENT: About TSS. As long as you are careful, your chances of getting it are rare. I have been wearing tampons overnight for thirteen years (I'm 44) and have never gotten TSS.

I sleep with a tampon in. I know it says not to, but I always put a fresh one in just before going to bed. If you wake up for a wee in the night you can change then if you need to! If leakage is a problem you can do as I do, wear a panty liner as well. If you do roll over & leak, this catches any escaping blood. (Well, it does for me!!)

Yes, I sleep with tampons in, in fact I never use pads at all because I feel dirty all the time. No, I don't get up in the middle of the night to change it, I just put one in right before I go to bed and make sure the first thing I do when I get up the next day is change it.

If you sleep 8 hours or less, you'll be fine. If you sleep more then 8 hours you should use pads, or you could get TSS.

i wear them over night.. ya i know it says not to wear them any more than 4-8 hours or it will increase the risk of tss. but im like u.. i sleep on my side and it makes a mess. tss is rare. and it depends on how much u sleep most ppl sleep between 7-10 hours so that'd be 2 hours over limit.. i always do. yes its a risk but tss is rare and if i do get it there is no1 to blame but myself or try to wake up somtime in the night and change it

no u actually really should not wear tampons in your sleep. u never know if u end p sleeping 4 more then 8 hours. and even then if yur using super plus tampons not very safe as is! and if it only lasts 4 hours then just use like super plus pads... and if its really heavy then like dounle up on pads in the night. good luck :)
