Hi:

A aneroid Barometer use a small flexible box that has some of it air moved and it drives a series of mechanical levers and a needle as the air pressure drops the box start to expand and it pushes the needle down indicating a drop in air pressure and when the air pressure start to increase the needle go in the opposite direction as the box contracts and that is how a aneroid barometer work

A mercury barometer works by filling a tube with mercury and turning the tube updown and putting in the open of the tube in a dish of mercury as air pressure increases it push on the mercury in the dish with forces more mercury up the tube the reverse happens when the air pressure decreases and that is how a mercury barometer works.
