I have been in two tornadoes having lived in Illinois and Iowa. And yes, it is weird but, things did get dead silent and the animals were acting strange. I am not sure why this is. I guess they have a sense that us human either ignore or don't have.

Not totally.....everything is not silent ......but animals sense it..and run. Saw a whole heard of deer come running over a mountain...about 5 minutes before a tornado.came thru the valley.. I've had cattle huddle together...and had horses just go wild...before anything was seen..I don't know if they feel the pressure change or what.

This article says about hail.....when the tornados hit the OH area Wednesday night.....I heard there's as much hail as last Wed.

I know there is a dead silence before hand and it sound like a train when it's hitting.

Not necessarily. I've been within about 8 blocks of one and it started out it was just raining, then the wind was blowing and then when the trees started bending completely over, I went to shelter!
