i want to pass the doll on to my daughter who is nearly 2 but it looks a bit scary with the eyes in the back of the head !!!

Assuming you are in the UK... There are several doll/teddy bear hospitals just for people who neglect their toys like you! Just put 'dolls hospital' in a search engine...

Just look for doll hospitals in your local 'phone book,these places can do a complete refurbish.
