I'd like to be friends with my swim instructor. She's 21 and i'm 18. On the first day of my swim work out, she swam up next to me and asked how old I was and talked with me for a bit. She didn't do this with the rest of the group. Their all younger.
I've been doing this work-out for about a month now. I'd really like to connect with her and it seems she wanted to from the first day. I've been thinking maybe I could ask her if she wants to go out for coffee or something. I just don't know how I should go about it. It's kind of awkward at the pool. I guess I could leave a note at the front desk for them to give to her. What do you think? Have any ideas? I'd really appreciate it!

Hey, just ask her! I think that is totally cool, especially if you know of a good coffee shop. Even ask her to a movie! Anyways you are lucky. I am 25 and moved away from home a year ago leaving my friends, and I haven't made any here and I miss girls tremendously. I only have my boyfriend in a new place. It is hard to meet girls because a lot of them are snotty and haters... so go for it if this girl is nice and it seems like she would make a cool friend. Don't leave a note though, that seems silly. ASK HER!!! :)

well she's 21 so you probably don't want to do anything high school-ish. so just ask her out in a cool, calm manner. that way, she doesn't see you as a kid. i guess the only real way to be able to really talk to her is to treat her as an equal and don't make a big deal about the age difference. i hope things go well for you, good luck!

Sounds like you are on the right track. Go ahead and ask her out! To quote a tacky saying "Jump in! The water's fine!"

Get real creative. think of flowers on top of the pool for her! write a note that is sealed that says redeemable for one lunch or whatever and sign it with your friend. you have nothing to lose and maybe a whole lot to gain by it all.
