You probably have a high mileage engine. The engine may have low oil pressure, dirty oil, clogged oil filter, or just low on oil. These conditions are mainly from neglect of servicing. If the oil is changed regularly, then the internals of your engine stays cleaner and the oil would flow easier. There isnt much to do but change your oil and filter and maybe add some Marvel Mystery oil or "Lucas" oil additives to help clean the engine. The tapping noise is caused by the hydraulic lifters running dry until it is started. The cold oil is also thicker and harder for the bleeder valve in the lifters to absorb the oil. Once the oil warms up and thins out, the oil is then introduced into the lifters and qthen quits them down.
So i either helped you understand what is going on or i just plain outright confused you to all hell.
good luck..........

It depends on whether your car has hydraulic lash adjusters or not. On engines without hydraulic lash adjusters, you periodically need to remove the valve cover and adjust the rocker arms or lifters. If your engine does have hydraulic lash adjusters, they're likely to be sticking or plugged - sometimes you can clean them out by putting Marvel Mystery Oil in the engine, sometimes you need new lash adjusters.
