I know that the marriage certificate AND birth certificate combined usually work but would like it changed everywhere. Birth certificate issued in Florida.

Sorry, wasn't clearer before. Yes, you can change a birth certificate name. It is just usually done when you petition a court for a legal name change. I have no interest in my "birth family" or their opinion. Severing ties would be the best thing that could ever happen and if I did get divorced, I would not ever go back to that name. Sorry for being unclear. Thanks for the responses.

here is the deal, if you have the name changed on your birth cert. It will still have your old name on it with a strike out through it. I do not understand why this is of any importance to you. It will cost you to do this. Your birth certificate identifies you at birth. Who cares what name is on it now you are married. Oh and a note to all you that think you can't change the name on your birth cert, you can. I did it with my daughter who for some Eff'ed up reason had a no first name BC with the mothers last name being her's which was all wrong.

I don't think so, but you would have to check with the State of Florida, I suppose. You may not want to do that even if it is allowed. Your birth certificate is the record of who your parents are and what name you were born with, of course. You will need it several times down the road and often times it needs to have your maiden name on it. I can imagine the chaos it would cause in some situations like inheritance, applying for social security, disability, etc. if your last name were changed to your new one. There would be no paper trail of who you were and sometimes that is very important. You might ought to consult an attorney and ask them if they think it is a good idea.

Your birth certificate is just that....your name at birth. There are very few circumstances where a birth certificate can be changed. This is because a birth certificate is an historical record, which was correct when the birth was registered.

yes you can change your name...legally on an amened birth certificate. It will cost you .

However please understand that in doing so you are leaving yourself wide open for odd remarks...such as .."so... you married your brother, father. uncle, cousin?" or somewhere along the way you divorce your husband and now not only do you have to pay an attorney to file for divorce you will also have to go back nd amend the amended birth certificate...

do you really want to go through that hassle?

Once you are married you get your driver license changed to your married name (for a fee)
have social security change your name on your card
change your medical and life insurance to your married name
as well as your bank accounts and savings

No, you won't be in a position to. You fill out the solid utility for a delivery certificates with the suggestions it is actual on the time of utility (i.e., the delivery). in spite of the undeniable fact that, it is not a controversy for 2 motives- one is that the delivery certificates asks to your maiden call, and a pair of is that the delivery certificates (the conventional short form) does nto truly have yoru or the child's fathers call on it, in basic terms the child's call and date of delivery. The long form, in case you request a duplicate (no longer mandatory) might have your maiden call. i'm hoping that facilitates!

no your birth certificate cannot be changed as it's a legal, recorded document, a historical artifact, and cannot be altered. your birth name must always remain your birth certificate.
