The following are bad luck accoding to superstition (I am just repeating them, not saying I believe them):
1. Mirror breaking (7 years bad luck);
2. Opening an umbrella indoors;
3. Putting shoes on a bed or on a table;
4. Spilling salt (to remedy take a pinch of the spilled salt and throw it over your shoulder;
5. Lighting three cigarettes on one match (someone supposedly dies);
6. Lighting your cigarette off of a candle flame (a sailor supposedly dies);
7. Crossing someone on the stairs (you will get in a fight with that person);
8. Itchy nose (you will get in a fight);
9. Burning/red ears (someone is talking about you);
10. Killing a spider;
11. Passing a graveyard without holding your breath;
12. Stepping on a crack (breaks momma's back);

Good luck:

1. If you trip up the stairs, you will get married;
2. If a bird poos on you, it's good luck.
