Historically, Adolf Hitler is going to be hard to beat. Under his regime every type of crime against humanity was commited on a monumental scale unimaginable (six million Jews and others) -prevously or since bettered by any other despot. From having factories(death camps) to kill people on a large scale to fullfill his racial purity polices to sanctioning murder of babies and adults with disabilities, to murdering gay people. We do know millions died under Mao Tse Tung of China during the Cultural Revolution and millions under Stalin in Russia and a large number under Pol Pot in Combodia, but it's the nature of death suffered under Hitler which makes him the Big Baddy of all time! Unless ,of course you consider the case of Judas Priest, who has earned the enmity of all Christians ( at least a billion) for all time because he betrayed Jesus Christ to the Romans, who killed Jesus. Though you can not put Judas priest in the same mould as Adolf Hitler. Judas Priest only betrayed one person, Hitler wiped out the lives of millions. The other despots not mentioned are small fry when compared to the antics of Hitler

It's amazing how many people have been inculcated into thinking that Hitler was the most hateful person in history. Lovable Uncle Jo Stalin had already notched up his first million murders when Hitler was painting in watercolours. Hitler could not have got away with any of his evil deeds had it not already become the 'normal' behaviour and most of the deaths in the concentration camps were exigencies of war. The eugenics movement freely adopted by the modern nations has been expurgated from our history whilst Stalin's tally still hasn't been fully reckoned but could top out at 60 million. Yes Hitler was a **** but why had he been singled out for so long?

I am a little surprised by the large amount of votes for Mr Hitler. He had a dream for Germany and generally treated the German people well.
Unlike many politicians, he had little financial benefit from his office which he served diligently although he did make some bad decisions.

Stalin however, by intent, negligence, incompetence and indifference killed more people than any other person who has ever lived. He was a paranoid megalomaniac who lacked any principles and set the Soviet Union economy back by some 30 years. No competition!

Stalin is a close candidate for the 'dictator responsible for the most deaths award'.

Though Hitler had more evil intentions.

Osama is a difficult one as there are so many supporters to out-weight the detractors (if were going purely on numbers).

I would go with Paul Robinson from neighbours. Every time you think he is developing a more trustworthy side he lets you down again.

One would think by reading some answers it's PARIS HILTON.

You named some that rank up there...
I've heard Napoleon Bonoparte called an anti christ
.
King George III was probably considered a hated person in his day...by the American Colonists.

Andrew Jackson was the President that signed the Indian Removal Act in 1830 for National Security reasons...more like greed. (I always admired this man before learning this.)

Gaetan Dugas was probably hated at pointed in time for spreading HIV

Mary Mallon aka "Typhoid Mary"

It's hard to say without living in that time period.

Hated by the greatest number of people has to be Hitler. Hated for his personal sadism on the people he governed, Idi Amin of Uganda, he personally ate his victims.

Close contenders, Joe Stalin, Mao Tse Ting, Pol Pot.
