Ipod is and MP3 player. It works just fine.

It is very easy to use an iPod with a non-Apple computer but I would personally recommend a different MP3 player if you wanted to get something else in the future that wasn't an iPod. These players often have more features like FM radio, bigger screens, voice and video recording. However, if you don't desire these features feel free to buy an iPod, it is quite a good MP3 player.

Windows computers work just fine with iPod. You can download iTunes and iPod software directly from Apple for FREE.

Yes, you can use it without an apple computer very easily. Ipods come with this CD you put onto your computer and you follow the instructiosn really easily. Its very simple to do, and ipods are greta so you shoudl definitely get one! :D
