Crouch,

Because the man can stand in the way of the goal, let the ball accidently hit him on the head and score a goal. Right place, right time.

Also, has a long career ahead of him, as once his accidental goal scoring days are behind him, he has to become a goalie. With arms and legs that long, he has the whole net covered!

Steven Gerrard is the best player because he is the one most capable of controlling the outcome of a game by himself. No one plays with more energy between the 18s as Gerrard. His performance in the 2005 Champion's League where he was the architect of the greatest comeback in UEFA history is plenty of evidence that he is England's best player. He can play Center Midfield, Outside Midfield, Holding Midfield and Striker, and is a great distributor and great finisher.

Your responses are only going to be relative to which team the answerer supports. For example, A Chelsea supporter (so I see) has gone for Frank Lampard, for a Man U fan, you'll get Rooney. I support Arsenal so I would go with Thierry Henry.

Each fan will have it's own reasons and at the same time scorn every other answer with a derisive comment.

You will not get a good scope of responses to form a valid claim for this question.

I hate to say it (as I am a Yid) but it has to be Henry.

The boy has everything. Speed, skill and an amazing shot. The only players close to him in world football are Ronaldinho and an on-form Rooney.

I always thought that whilst Beckham had his moments, Alan Shearer was a more consummate sportsman.

Today, probably the best player is Aaron Lennon and he will only get better. Theo Walcott is also one to watch and given the right conditions and club, Rob Hulse is amazing (even if he did go over to the enemy :-().
