I think it depends on if the horses mouth usually tends to spill over with lies. Also if the someone else was a more reliable source, but usually I straight to Mr. Ed.

That's a hard one. How well do you trust the horse? And even then, why are you listening to someone else? Too many factors come into play when it comes to a situation like this. I say listen to your heart, it's the only one you can trust and is usually right.

Always go to the horse's mouth. Anything said by a third party regarding what the first party said or how the first party feels, thinks, or acts is hearsay, and less reliable.

It depends on which "horse's" mouth the words were coming from.
With some "horses", if they told me i was on fire i wouldn't believe them unless i smelled smoke!
So i find it a wiser racecourse of action to listen to the entire stable, and then come to my own conclusions.
