Some idiots probably do. A childrens dose of benadryl however can save the parents sanity and the children a lot of unhappy time in their carseats. Most physicians reccomend it for long drives it is more abusive to let a child scream and cry for hours on end without relief.
Remember how confining modern carseats are, the poor kids can't even shift their weight.

No never have done it never heard of it. I have been told by a doctor if my child which was 2 at the time was fussy and wouldn't go to bed and I was worn out to give it the child dose of allergy med. such as Benadryl so your child will fall asleep.
I did that maybe 5 times over 7 years. But there was a big reason. Most the time it was because they went 2 or 3 days without good sleep. Sounds like abuse. Looks like a sleeping pill could kill a baby or small child..

one of my son's has ADHD in a severe why! The doctor's actually has him on Valium 2 mg 3x day. So, yes I do. Per doctor order plus his other ADHD meds..which is Abilify 15 mg at night, and Methdate CD 20 mg in the morn. Like I said..he is FULL OF energy!! He is 15 now..and has been this way ever since I can remember. And no, we don't give him Chocolate or caffeine drinks or sweets, I am a RN, BSN (Nurse) and my husband is a Doctor, we know better.
For those who think this maybe abuse..think again..it is per dotor's order under their supervision. And this Valuim is a very low dose. Valuim comes in 2 mg (what my son takes) and 5 mg and then 10 mg. So my son is on the lowest dose. My husband and I both are in the Medical profession and we see this all the time and it's not just my son. There all lots of children on medications. As long as it is taken per doctor's order and NOT ABUSED, than all should be well. There are some out there the DO ABUSE medicine and those are the ones that mess things up for the rest of them...!
So, yes I/we have. He has a heart problem/ heart patient and he has to chill out or his heart can go in over load and put stress on it. It has to be this way. He doesn't have a severe heart problem; it is moderate. But still has to be treated though.

I'm not sure. But if they do they're sick, Children don't belong taking sleeping pills. Anyone who gives there child a sleeping pill needs to be a better parents because thats doing nothing but showing people that you cant handle your own kids!

Yes people actually do this. They are lucky if the child survives as an adult sleeping pill can kill a child. Yes it is abuse. When My kids were loud my mom would say "They are overtired give them an asprin" Maybe this is why I am such an advocate for children. My mom was one of those who would drug the kids to "calm" them down.

I would never do that! If your kids are too loud for a road trip then that person shouldn't go. Who in their right mind would do this?? Some kind of sicko? I think it is abuse too. I only give my kids something when they are sick, never to make them quiet.

If it says it is not for human beings under 18, then needless to say you ought to not be taking it, every person that recommends otherwise is being silly. the two obtrusive, in case you think of you're depressed, and you think of you want some style of therapy for that, then you definately needless to say ought to talk with a counselor or therapist of a few style. while you're no longer depressed, then you definately do no longer ought to talk to a therapist. Your college in all probability has a therapist of a few style which you would be able to a minimum of talk to while not having to hold it up such as your mom, in case you do no longer understand who that individual is, you need to ask the college nurse who may be much less complicated to discover. and you extremely should not be stealing pills out of your mom, it quite is stupid, and she or he'll additionally word. the reality that she'll needless to say word (and which you're posting this on a information superhighway talk board) makes it seem such as you want some interest for this. you may definitely get that interest via speaking to a therapist. additionally, curiously like "quite existence" are organic "pills", so as that they in all probability do definitely no longer something in any respect besides, however the mere actuality that it says 'no longer for basically 18' needless to say ability you ought to not be taking them, or stealing them, or using them extremely of speaking to a therapist.

I agree. Sometimes my mom would give us cold medicine to help wind us down before we went to sleep..but not sleeping pills. That's too big of a dosage for children. I watched this thing on this lady who gave her kids some kind of medicine but too much and one of her kids died.
