Pyrodex or a similar product can replace black powder in a firearm designed for that use. Smokeless powder is nitrocellulose in one of several compounds, and requires a good knowledge of chemistry. Guncotton can be made by soaking cotton balls in nitric acid and allowing to dry, but fingers have been lost doing this. What are you using it for?
