Its easier to have a fight in here than get a serious answer or a funny answer.
Why is this so?

Not too sure where you are headed on this one to be honest.
Consider that the door is open to anyone that wants to abuse this place just as much as anywhere there is an open door in cyber-space. Yahoo is not policed (unless someone is to report what they consider to be either offensive or ridiculously off-topic.)
I'd say the call is yours. You either take the good with the bad ... be fair here, there is more good than bad, or people can choose to not visit. It's an open forum with an open option *not* to come visit.
I take your point, at the same time I don't really think it's worth looking too deeply into. :)
(Only my take, of course)

sometimes the questions invite mockery, sometimes the questions do not have a funny answer, sometimes the questions are phrased to start fights, intentional or no if a serious question is asked, there is usually a serious answer forthcoming.

Ask a serious question, you'll get a few serious answers.
Say something that people find offensive and you'll get abusive responses.

because people are stupid!
often "funny" answers are just dumb or gross
and few people take the time to answer questions seriously
and then there's of course people who just have stupid questions
