would you let into your house a family (your family knows) that is being pursued to be killed because of their ethnicity. Association with this ethnic group would put your family in a grave deadly danger. Would you open the door and let them hide in your house or would you just keep quiet and let them meet their fate.

ps: this actually happened in one african country.

If I had the means to defend myself and my family member on the run, yes I would let them in, if I didn't then I would help them get away.

That would depend on a lot of factors. Largely, how well we knew this family. I would not risk the safety of my kids for just anyone... But then, if they were close friends of my children, too, could I live with myself if my kids knew I didn't try to save them? I would try to leave my kids somewhere else, with a grandparent or something, so their lives would not be risked. Or find a way to help the family without letting them in my home- offering them a place outside my property to hide, or giving them my car to run away in. I'm too bighearted to turn them away, but as a mom, my first priority is my children and their safety. Where did this happen?? How scary... What a blessing to be in a country where I don't have to worry about that... ♥

It's happened more than in that one country. Europe under the Nazis springs to mind.

What would I do?

I really don't know. I am a coward, so I don't think I'd have the courage to shield someone if my life was on the line, but then, I haven't been in that situation.

A lot of people who shielded others at great risk to themselves and their families were surprised at themselves for having done so.

PS This also actually happened in the HOLOCAUST and many other situations.

It would probably be better for all of us for me to help them escape, rather than just hide them. I would look for a better solution.

That will be answered when the situation arises.
One seldom knows what one will or will not do--and that changes day to day.

It happens daily--
some people are responsible=
others look for for self.

Don't expect help in the land of the free.

They'll tell you'' I'll call police if you need help or I'll call someone for you but to help you personally----1 in 10 maybe a big maybe.
