Try any dance studio i garuntee they have ballet but if you just think its pretty and youve never done it, you wont be doing the pretty stuff liek the spins and leaps for a while it would take you a couple of years probably look it up in the phonebook

For practice, you could do plies ( the knee bending thing) and releve ( high on the balls of your feet this is very important because you always have to be pointin your toes) and try good posture straight back level shoulders chin high but you would really need to take classes for ttraining if you want to do anything real like you need to learn the positions .... maybe you could find the positions on the internet somewhere and commit them to memory and practice those... also stretches are good you have to be limber anf flexible so you should start with stuff liek that maybe try working on doing a split

ill tell you what ballet is becasue ive been doing it since i was 2 and im 15 now.. ballet is very diffuclt becasue you have to have the right technique such as pointed toes, flat back, great posture, poise, straight knees, so on and so fouth.. ballet does keep you fit espically when you get to the higher levels such as elemantary or intermediate foundation.. i am in elemanrty and there is alot of turns.. and devolpes.. which is a very hard things to to.. ballet is alot more than people thiink like its just not a tutu and shoes and you go out on your toes.. there is alot more... ballet is ggreat i love it..! but i would suggest taking a ballet course or introducory before trying it at a studio.. becasue it will be a good intro to the hard steps and new things you will learn.. a typical ballet class for me is a warm up at the bar which is piles toundues gissades and normally grand battement and devolpes then you move in to the center and do center practice which involes jumps (allegro) blancing excerises por de bra kicks and more devolpes and lotsa turns.. then you will do steps across the room to help you.. then normally there is a study, combo or a little dance that we will do and preform in small groups.. ballet is painful and alotta hard work.. go for it! try it see if all you do is dance around on our little tippy toes.. were actually dancing on blisters torn muscles inguries and pain.

i hoped this help you a bit..

Do it!!!
It helps with confidence and posture
and great for keep ing your weight down.

It is a very strict art form however and sometimes you will be in a class wondering why you are spending an hour learning how to bend....there is a good reason so you do not hurt yourself.

Find some beginner adult classes if you are near London the Pineapple studios are great, but any school should do them.

It might be an idea to have a few private ones, so that you are ok in a group.

Remember it is suppose to be fun if you do not like it then STOP!!!!!!

Also try to go to a few performances, my favsare Mayerling and Manon.

Good luck!!!!

Ballet is a very disceplined art form. You need to have determination to do it. Start stretching now so you can be ahead of the game for your first class. Start in a beginners course for adults. Have fun!

Go to a studio so you get the right training and Tecnique to learn the steps. I go to a studio in Florida and the staff is Awesome and they totally don't push you! Plus you can start the leaps, torre shates and Leaps right away. If you live in Tampa or Plant City go to Jackie's.

its the most fun and loveable thing you could ever do! you will have so much fun and get addicted to it! it is hard work though!! you have to be willing to work really hard and spend a lot of time at your studio and at home practicing if you want to get pretty good! take as many classes as you can, that way you can improve your technique quicker. and its all about confidance and having a love for dance! good luck and go for it!
