Its too bad that I cant get an intelligent answer. Most of you just don’t know how much oil this country is sitting on. My dad worked back in the 60's and 70's capping off oil wells and helping to burry them under lakes and earth. Do most of you actually think that the USA is so stupid that we would purposely use up our own supply before the world ran out of oil, Think about it us the worlds supply of oil then we have our own supply to use while every one else is asking for hand outs. I drive Truck for a living I have picked up more goods that were made here than most people even have the ability to consider. Our exports are far greater than any single country in this whole world....What about When we sent our marines to south Africa at the request of the south African govt look what happened there we wound up along with the Russians getting our troops out and leaving them to deal with there own problems right after they turned on our troops and tortured and then killed them...

Well the problem with going back to isolation is that the US was build as a nation that people could come to when they were fleeing other countries. Unless you are 100% Native American you are not really from this country in the first place. Our country was founded on tolerance and we need to remember that even when other people are saying how bad the US is.

And by the way the US has a horrible track record of "taking care of its own." Just look at the poverty rate across the nation.

Enjoy your weekend. :)

In the year 2016 the remaining crude oil will be in very short supply. This will cause the price per barrel to shoot up to $160.00 a barrel and that is a conservative est. There will no longer be a global economy. And then if in 2011 the sun really does go through a heightened period of solar flare activity and blows all the transformers you won't even have to wait until 2016.

Wants your *help*? lol! The Americans just interfere wherever they think there's a buck to be made.

Why build up their army? Who are they going to fight? Themselves?!

What about all the Americans that make their living dealing with the rest of the world? And are you sure America could be totally self-sufficient without imports of any kind?

But since you raise the subject, the rest of the world managed perfectly well without America until a couple of hundred years ago and I'm sure it could again. Bye!

I'm sorry to invade with a little reality here, but the US needs the world much more than the world needs the US.

A little thing called the trade deficit ring a bell? We don't make anything anymore, if we were to be cut off we'd be in a world of hurt.

Just a little list of what we make:
Appliances (no)
Computers (no)
Electronics in general (no)
Oil (about 20%) (Yes)
Cars(about half) (Yes)
Clothing (no)
Footwear (no)
Food (about half) (yes)
Household Goods (no)
Drugs (no)
Surgical Supplies (no)

In theory it would be good but in reality I would think the rest of the world would turn on us like a pack of dogs. We buy friendship now to keep the other countries in the middle.

For example. Kim Jong-ill and N Korea. Why are they so mad? Because we stopped giving them oil and money at the beginning of the Iraqi war. Kim Jong-ill wants to be put back on welfare. Is giving our enemies oil and money really how we should treat them?

If we'd p.c. to stop us of a, we'd could attack them. they do no longer hear to us. They asked to invade a rustic, have been given a veto from the Benelux, France, ... and desperate to do it on their very own. So till we went to Iraq with our very own military to forcefully stop them from invading, we haven't any impact. the sole ingredient we are in a position to do is say 'we will no longer sell to you' or 'American import might have larger taxes'. yet then there will be a backlash... . can we handle that? Our political leaders desperate we could no longer. So why are we no longer able? because of the fact we don't p.c. to get into warfare with the U. S.. or perhaps we will not. The Nato includes u.s. and Europe - maximum international places don't have an 'military' of their very own to any extent further. additionally, we've had some risks: whilst the ecu international places have been scuffling with between themselves interior the 1st element of the 20 th century, u.s. replaced into growing to be. whilst we've been attempting to get alongside - it is very complicated as a results of our diverse backgrounds, cultures, previous, languages, and the occasional computer virus - u.s. replaced into growing to be. And, additionally, do no longer ignore, all of us be counted on u.s.. Painful as that's to assert. After WW II funds fee replaced into linked to the yankee dollar. Wall highway crash. And now they're in difficulty lower back in u.s., and guess what? we are having huge losses besides. we are tied to that continent via industry. What first minister is going to place all our prosperity on the line? it could have reward interior the long-term, yet he'd lose the subsequent elections. interior the tip, apart from our inner problems, worldwide industry and armed forces-concern, we are nevertheless governed via people who're in essence egocentric. Politics is now no longer something you do in view which you have a perfect. that's a activity.

The thought is now outdated because modern weapons and transportation make transcontinental activities easier. Besides the US is no longer capable of supporting its needs without imports. Thanks to years of dummycrats giving away our manufacturing abilities and wall streets trading profit for the American dream our country is in real trouble. The heavy industries have been destroyed by environmentalist and even farming has been reduced to where it can no longer feed our nation.

Isolation basically means selfish!
if we have the power and resources to help those in bad situations then (declaration of independence) "if we see an unjust government, it is not only our right, but it is our DUTY to rebuild such government"
obviously our forefathers had more sense of humanity and generousity than you do
as a navy brat, i strongly believe that it is our job to help those less fortunate than us
and cuss one more time and i'll report you
9/11 NEVER FORGOTTEN

America is a "piece-loving" country, that means to grab any piece of land that is soaked with oil. Isolation will starve this nation to death.
