Decrease input (food) and increase effort (exercise).
Remember a few important pointers:
- two pounds of body weight are about 6,000 calories.
- the more you weigh, the more calories you burn simply sitting, the less you weigh, the less you burn. So a 300 lb person needs more calories than someone 150 lbs -- just to sit there.
- the more you weigh, the more your intial weight drop in the first week which is majorly water anyway
- fasting, starving and fad diets are BAD. You will get weaker and weaker, you deplete your body, and there is a maximum you can use in a week anyway, so that is a pointless route to go.
- the best diet is a balanced diet that gives you proper balanced meals in moderate portions so you never feel hungry, give your body its due of nutrients, and retrain yourself to eat properly
-the key to weight loss and weight maintenance is moderation
- your best bet is to cut back on your input, especially in the evening. So, for example if you basically eat a healthy diet, but tend to snack, or eat a lot of bread, sweets... cut out the snacks and empty calories, and bread especially in the evening, and add e.g. walking or an exercise you like to your daily routine.
- Depending on your age and weight, and how long you've been carrying the weight (the longer you've had it the harder to lose & the opposite is true), this reduction could be enough over a few months to see you lose a couple of pounds a week.
-Never weigh yourself every day because for many reasons body weight fluctuates from day to day. Pick a day, time and what you will (or not) wear, and weigh yourself on the scales once a week at the same time... (For me, my clothes are my scale, the number is besides the point)
- At some point, your body will start to resist your attempts to lose weight and you may not see the scale drop. Don't give up, just reduce calories a bit more, increase your exercise a bit more and ride out the resistance period. the scales will have to yield to your persistence.
-good luck

This is a common mistake with most people its okay to eat. Do not starve yourself. This makes your body think it needs to make more fat and thus you will become fatter. Get your matabolism working by eating a healthy breakfast. Waffles and eggs or even some fruit and cereal is good too. Just be careful how much you eat. Also you must exercise to keep your matabolism going. Now the most important thing is to be patient. This will not happen very fast so do not weigh yourself every day for this may take a couple or more weeks for you to see positive results.

Weight Watchers....seriously. They use a point system. Each food is a certain amount of points. I lost 15 pounds my first week.
Can't make it? Then just eat healthier, portion control, lots of greens, and drink at least 5 glasses of water a day. Trust me, the pounds will SHED off if you simply do that. Add exercise, and they will fly off as well.
OH, and don't take diet pills. They can make you sick. Take One-a-Day Weight Smart vitamins (they have generic brands too). They help curve your appetite like diet pills in a HEALTHIER way, so you still get the nutrients you need (unlike if you starved yourself like the person above states), and don't eat as much.
