I have been worried that my tummy isn't big enough, but my measurements according to the doctor are right. And I've been gaining weight, the baby is moving, and his heartrate was 150. But I'm still concerned, and going to be more, because I asked for another ultrasound , and he agreed just to put my mind at ease. Now I know I'll worry until my appt. in 2 wks. Anyone else been small looking during pregnancy? How did it turn out? And when does the baby REALLY start putting on weight? Thanks!

It's not that I'M not gainning weight, I have been, and the appropriate amount. It's that my tummy doesn't LOOK like a 7 month pregnant woman?!!!

Your first pregnancy, moms always seem to have smaller belly's. The baby puts on the most weight the last 4 weeks. You really need to stop worrying, that is really not good for the baby, stress is bad.
Just keep taking great care of your self, eating good and everything will be fine. Check out this site on healthy nutrition.

Alright, well, you didn't say anything about your prepregnancy body shape, and really, that is what it's all about. Women who are petite, and slender, usually seem larger during pregnancy than taller and stockier women. Ask around, sweetie, and think about all those teens who go through an entire pregnancy and swear they didn't know, but deliver perfectly healthy babies.
Many women are not large during pregnancy, and some don't even show at all until the 6th or 7th month.
At 28 weeks, your baby is about 16 inches long and weighs between 3 and 4 pounds. Think about that, it's just a little over a foot long and weighs less than a good sized pot roast. The big thing to remember right now is that your baby is very skinny, he/she hasn't begun to put on those layers of "baby fat" that make them all so sweet and chubby. Between 32 and 40 weeks is when most babies gain that fatty layer. During the last 4 weeks of pregnancy, your baby will gain around 1/2 a pound a week.
Also, rest easy, I only gained 18 pounds with my first baby, and he weighed 7lbs and 14 ozs.

Hi. I am only 16 weeks, but I haven't gain a pound and I still fit into all of my normal clothes. Sounds to me like you have a healthy baby, even though your tummy is small...maybe the baby is just a little guy! The heart rate is perfect, and if the Dr. says it is o.k., I think it probably is. Don't fret about your next ultrasound..I'm am sure it will be great, and you get more pictures of your baby! Hang in there, and good luck!

I didn't start to really show until I was 7 months. It just depends on how your body is built. I am tall and had lots of room for the baby to stretch out. I got a speeding ticket a week before I was due and the cop didn't believe me.
You really start to pick up weight in the last month. That's when the baby gains the most weight.

I measured regular not to big around that time as well. Then they found out I was anemic and put me on iron pill, it seems the next week I just boomed. I gained the rest of my weight from then on..didnt change any eating habits or nothing. Now I am at 37 weeks and look like Im a whale..lol. However, my friend is 36 weeks and she isnt anemic, her baby is fine and she is measuring small..but she is a small person. Everyone is diff.

As long as your Doctor isn't concerned, you should try to put your mind at ease. It seems like you have a caring Dr that is taking your concerns seriously which is very important. Every woman is different, as is every baby and pregnancy. Try to calm down until your mind can be put to rest at the ultra sound. I am pregnant right now also, and our emotions and worries sometimes get the best of us. Try to keep your chin up, and try to enjoy being pregnant. Keep talking to your Doctor about your concerns and do whatever it takes to put your mind at ease. I hope this helps and I hope you and your baby are happy and healthy.

I didn't look pregnant until I was 8 months along. Actually, after my baby was born an acquaintance came up to me and said, "You had a baby!? I thought you were just fat!". Lol.
As long as your doctor says you're ok, and you have no other complications, it's perfectly normal to be small.
My baby weighed 5lbs 8 ounces at birth, and was very healthy. She's 3 now, skinny as a stick, but hardly ever gets sick. Some kids are just small. As long as they're heathy, it's ok!

I never even looked pregnant til i was seven months. Around the end of the seven months mark, it was like an overnight thing. My belly just popped out.
I gave birth to a seven pound fifteen ounce baby. Healthy as could be, which I was scared when I was as far as you were, because I thought he was going to be so small. They do most of their growing the last two months, and especially in the last month which is why they always want you to carry fullterm.
Good luck and congratulations.

I didn't show much in my pregnancy either. I'm pretty tall (5'11") and I think the baby spread out over my abdomen so I didn't look that big. My doctor wasn't concerned about her growth at all. I finally looked about 6 months pregnant the week before my daughter was born at almost 39 weeks. My doctor was a bit surprized when she weighed 8lbs, 2oz. Everyone asked me where I hid her.

hey there, i dont think you've got anything to worry about hunnie!!! I dont really know anyone who wasnt very big while pregnant, I dont think i was, even though people used to tell me i was going to bust lol, but when i was in the hospital (for 6 days before i had my baby),cuz i had high blood pressure, another lady came in there, in labour, and believe me she wasnt very big...i saw her before she was pregnant cuz she works in a jewerly store in the mall and she was not a very big lady to begin with maybe 120 lbs or so...and when she was 9 months she hardly looked any bigger...probably like someone 3-5 months who are just starting to pop out...and she had a healthy full term baby...so try not to worry after reading that story...hopefully it makes sense lol!!!
