We've all been there. Some months it's not so bad and other's it's horrid! I actually stopped taking normal birth control and switched to Seasonale - and now use a generic form that only costs $10 with my healthplan. I only get my period every 3 months now (which is OK and still safe for your body). I've noticed my hormones aren't nearly as crazy with this new pill. I have a friend who switched to Yasmine and had similar results. If you feel out of control, maybe you should talk to your Dr. about another pill/or to take the pill with a lower hormone amount.

Well you had better not sleep me young lady, or you will be very sorry indeed.

As you say, it is those raging hormones again, I'm afraid, and it varies from person to person. For example, my ex-wife was and still is a complete monster just before and during her period lasting over a week, but my current gf is just a bit under the weather for a couple of days.

It doesn't suit everyone, I know, but sometimes going on the pill can help reduce the dramatics significantly.

well, there's pms and then theres pmdd

When compared to PMS, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a more severe disorder associated with the menstrual cycle and is characterized by a very specific pattern of symptoms. The symptoms of PMDD must occur during the last week of the luteal phase in the majority of menstrual cycles over the course of a year, and disappear during menstruation.

The PMDD symptom severity can be compared to a Major Depressive Episode. The symptoms must be debilitating enough to interfere with a woman’s ability to carry on with social or job-related activities. The symptoms may also be accompanied by suicidal thoughts.

Because of its impact on women, the American Psychiatric Association has defined PMDD in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV™). In order to be diagnosed with PMDD, a woman must have five (or more) of the following symptoms with at least one of the symptoms being one of the first four.

Feeling sad, hopeless, or worthless
Feeling tense, anxious, or “on edge”
Mood swings interspersed with frequent tearfulness
Persistent irritability, anger, and increased interpersonal conflict
Decreased interest in usual activities
Difficulty concentrating
Feeling fatigued, lethargic, or lacking in energy
Changes in appetite (may be associated with binge eating or craving certain foods)
Inability to sleep or sleeping excessively
Having a subjective feeling of being overwhelmed or out of control.
Other physical symptoms such as breast tenderness or swelling, headaches, sensations of “bloating” or weight gain with feelings of tightness in clothing, shoes, or rings. Joint or muscle pain may also be present.
If you have menstrual symptoms that interrupt your daily life, and recur consistently and predictably every month, you may want to discuss them with your doctor or health care professional.

Are you repeating the pattern of behavior demonstrated by one or both parents? If so, you can make a conscious effort to relax and let go of your extreme emotions, so you don't become like them.

... is the "with" missing between sleep and people? I hope not. ...ugh- eeew! You meant "slap" instead- right?... not sleep... "slap people, even strangers.".. I hope so.
Yeah,... I can get very mad, too... but I don't want to sleep with or slap strangers....lol.

my gf is waaaay bitchy while she's on her period, but at least she realizes it, and rewards me with hot angry sex, which is like the total opposite of our normal sweet caring love making. Yes I have to deal with random verbal assaults, but she makes it worth it :-D

We, each of us, are responsible for who we are and what we do. It is convenient to blame uncontrolled anger on PMS, but it is truly a lack of self control that comes to the fore. Suggest you seek anger management therapy.
