The only thing that will work is parent support AND parent volunteers. Honestly, teachers don't want to give up their evenings to supervise school dances, as they've already been working all day and they don't get paid for it! If you can get parents together who are willing to organize, set-up, chaperone and clean up after the dance, then your school will have no reason to object!

In my middle school dances, we had titles for each dance (instead of the "Valentines Dance," we called it "Angel of Mine" or something corny like that). Have the student council come up with a catchy title instead of "Halloween Dance". Maybe something like "October Fest" or something. By the way I feel for ya, schools are way too uptight when it comes to dances...

Can you have a dance at a local community center? Then the principal can't do anything.
