in an area with a large immigrant population. Many people are loosing their jobs and many programs are being cut as they try ( in vain ) to make up the short fall. This hospital is about to close, and illustrates the burden placed on local services by this situation, who should be picking up this tab, the people who employ illegal immigrants, the governments of the people who are receiving the services, our government, who? This is not made up I have a family member in the health care field who has first hand knowledge

This is a growing problem which will only get worse, because our misrepresentatives in congrass have allowed it to grow too big to control. The collapse of health services in areas overwhelmed by immigrants will be one of the next big crises and liberals will blame it on, (you guessed it again you sly dog!), George W Bush.

Why not? most of these immigrants are hard workers, more than americans. Just think on this, if every of these immigrants spend $5 a day for living, how much money is moving around to help the US economy in daily basis because they are here? do you want to get rid of that? Displacing the job market? I don't think so.. .they are generating financial movement on the economic scheme. Is better to take advantage instead of create a racist crisis. Regarding security issues... illegal immigration exist since very long time ago, even before 9/11 then you cannot make any relation with illegal immigration and terrorism. They are "different animals"

I have no immediate suggestions as to handling such a problem - we do not have such problems in Canada, which has a fine health system for all, even though there are problems (as in anything, anywhere) But consider this :

The illegal immigrants who live in your society also spend money. Their money is forced through the multitudinous inlets of your economy in the same way as anyone else's, including tourists', money. You do not have a situation in which the bloc of illegals takes without returning - as far as I know they pay rent, buy food and shoes and school supplies etc.

This question is much more complex than it would seem on the surface. It is two questions - what to do about illegal immigrants and what to do about the exorbitant costs of health care. And for the US, I think, the entire issue of health care - including disparities among regions, denominations, economic classes - can be addressed properly only by developing a national health care system, from top to bottom. (I wouldn't include prescriptions, tho many people do) To me, the fact that the US has more uninsured persons than ALL of CANADA is more than shameful!

It will be we the tax payer who ends up picking up the tab. Yes it's a sad times we live in when politicians won't do anything about the border which for so many reasons should be taken care of better (to say the least). I just heard that illigal alians after we grant them amnisty will be able to collect back social security from when they were illigal. Way to go politicians!!

That is why we just took the 1st step and are going to build a 700 mile fence. Next action is to go after the people that employ these illegals, no job, no money time to back to Mexico. Then and only then can we control, track whomever is in the USA.

The employer that gives these illegals work should be fined and the monies generated by those fines used to save endangered hospitals.

You forgot to mention the homeless bums who also use emergency rooms for their primary care needs. Force them to work or lock them up in the loony bin.

ive been in the hospital before to and got billed for 100$ paper cups, 50$ q-tips and other non-sense ... i dont feel bad that a corrupt and overpaid healthcare system is feeling it ... our govt could bail the healthcare system out with one weeks worth of the money they spend on an illegitemate war.

This doesn't have much credibility without good source information.
