Ever since I been out of the USCG, since 2003, I can't find a decent job here in this hell on earth place in Lafayette, LA. I have tried working electrical construction, offshore, sales, and I always get screwed over eventually, by these cajuns. It's every man for himself around here, and if you don't believe everything Bush says, don't own a 4 wheeler, don't hunt, or don't suck crawfish heads, they won't like you. I wish I could move.

well I have done electrical work off and on since I was 18, but I always get fired. I do an okay job I thought. But in the coast guard I didn't learn anything. I had to do preventive maintenances, like suck lint out of clothesdryers on ships, with a vacuum.

Why can't you move? And what does USCG mean? United States Coast Guard? I'd move if I were you. You obviously do not have any love of Louisiana. (Neither do I!) There's no law against Coast Guard retirees leaving for another state. If I were you, I would move to San Diego or to the Los Angeles area. There are a lot more jobs there. Also, give more thought to what you really love to do, rather than just "getting a job." All the best to you!

It isn't especially fair, but I'd suggest that you stop expounding on your political views at work. Work is for work, and nothing else. You'd find that the same problem would exist if you were a neo-con in San Francisco. Keep workplace conversation on appropriate topics and you won't have a problem.

Well its either because you don't have any salable job skills or your job skills will sell better in another part of the country...

Let's face it, who the heck wants to hire a whiner that to others, especially employers that is perceived to have lib-tard values?

Get with the program boy!

I want to see you employed too!...

Good luck but you might have to make some of your own luck...

well before you blame bush, consider the fact that you live in a state with an economy battered by a hurricane. not to mention you live in a small town, as opposed to a large city.

Have you considered the crack business? I mean both the drug and the female body part. Both are lucrative and require little formal education or training.
