To the people above me, plecos and chinese algea eaters are not bottom feeders - they are algea eaters. Plecos also grow over 2 feet long.

I recommend a cory catfish. They come in many colors and types (Panda, Emerald, Albino..ect) and they only get 3 inches big.

Corydoras julii (Leopard Catfish) they only grow to 2 1/2" so you can get a few of them

Cory cats are generally a good choice. Also, they are really cute and funny to watch.

mine are some kind of chineese suckers(bottom feeders) i've got two and they keep my 10 gal pretty clean

i would suggest chinese algae eater or siamese algae eater, "cory" (corydora) catfish are also popular. All three are very active and easy to maintain.
