I am 17 in november, my girlfriend is 18. We work with each other and we love each other very much. However, my mom thinks we spend too much time with each other and she wants to go to the police or whatever.
What are the laws regarding this? i thought it was all right as long as we don't have sex, which we don't. And we are not planning on having sex either. But how could we prove that? how does it work? help me please
Basically what i'm asking is what would happen if she actually went to the police? Would they do anything to her? I don't want her to ruin her life because of me.

Try: http://www.lawforkids.org/laws/view_law.cfm?id=14
"In the State of Arizona, a person under 18 years old CANNOT consent to engage in sexual conduct (13-1401)."
"Under Arizona law, sexual conduct is when a person intentionally or knowingly engages in sexual intercourse or oral sexual contact with a person under 18 years of age. Sexual conduct with a minor 15, 16 or 17 years old is class 6 felony. Sexual conduct with a minor under fifteen years of age is a class 2 felony."

this was the closes law I could find about minors in your situation. There is NO law saying you cannot have an 18 yr. old friend if you are under age. The only law against what you are saying is if you too are having sex, which you are not. You will not have to prove you are not. You would only have to prove that if YOU or your mother call the cops on HER for having "sex with a minor" But your mother will need some kind of proof.

There is no law against spending time with each other. Here is the law regarding sexual contact with minors in Arizona. The age of consent in Arizona is 18 but penalties may vary depending on the actual age of the people involved.
A.R.S. § 13-1405 (2006)
§ 13-1405. Sexual conduct with a minor; classifications
A. A person commits sexual conduct with a minor by intentionally or knowingly engaging in sexual intercourse or oral sexual contact with any person who is under eighteen years of age.
B. Sexual conduct with a minor who is under fifteen years of age is a class 2 felony and is punishable pursuant to section 13-604.01. Sexual conduct with a minor who is at least fifteen years of age is a class 6 felony. Sexual conduct with a minor who is at least fifteen years of age is a class 2 felony if the person is the minor's parent, stepparent, adoptive parent, legal guardian or foster parent and the convicted person is not eligible for suspension of sentence, probation, pardon or release from confinement on any basis except as specifically authorized by section 31-233, subsection A or B until the sentence imposed has been served or commuted.

The age of consent in Arizona is 18 for both males and females so as long as you are not having sex, there is no problem here. As for your mom going to the police, as long as no laws are being broken they will probably tell her there is nothing they can do for her. I also don't think the police would do anything to your mom for going to them and asking questions. Good Luck

it is against the law and she can go to the police. however i highly doubt they will do anything. they might tell yall to stay away from each other but how are they going to know if yall do? are they going to follow you everywhere you go? trust me they have more serious things to worry about: himicides, robberies, illegal aliens.like i said all they will probably do is tell yall to stop seeing each other and then give you props when you walk out the door for scoring with an older chick. i wouldnt worry about it

There is no law to refer to because there isn't one - there are laws on statutory rape, which involves ages, but no laws on just spending time together. There are also laws on corrupting a minor - but unless your girlfriend is giving you drugs or something like that there is no law.

you can date as long as you don't have sex.
but you are a minor and your mother can tell you where you can go, and when you can go. So basicly she can control your life till you are 18.
If this 18 year old adult is taking you somewhere against your mothers wishes, it could be interfering with custody if they really pushed it.
