The toughest class I took to date (ask me again at the end of this semester, which is my first in grad school :) ) was Calculus II. Now, I'm in graduate school for physics, and took five semesters of math as an undergraduate and am pretty comfortable with math. But Calc II was something different. It was a fairly large class, and often times the average exam grade was a 40%. There was no easy part to that class, and that was the one class that I really worked for my freshman year of college. Of course, at least for me, the math got easier after Calc II, but it still sticks out for me.

Of course, one thing I should note is that it was during a Calculus II lecture that the 9/11 attacks happened, so I'll probably always associate Calculus II with 9/11 (I was going to Rutgers U. in NJ at the time, and you could see this black smudge on the horizon for a few days afterward...).

It really comes down to the person. Some love math and have no problem with calculus, but founder in writing. Others are the opposite, and some excel in everything they do.
So, it's really hard to pick out one single hardest. I struggled a bit with Calculus in college, but eventually got it. It's really individual.

According to many of the statistics (sorry, I don't have one at my hand at the moment), the most disliked subjects are as following (not in order): Calculus, Physics, Linear Algebra.

My worst subject happens to be history. I'm pretty good at Physics. It really depends on the method of your logical thinking. I hate memorizing, and thus my aversion to history is explained.

Each individual has a different toughest class. Some have more tough classes than others. If a student has a learning disability, that can also factor in.
