I like to wear eye liner on my lower eye lid but lately it makes my eyes turn red and sore the next day why is that? I have tried different eye liners.

I don't share my liner. I have worn eye liner for years and never had a problem. I stopped wearing it for a few months and then started again. That's when the problem started. I wear it now only once in a while due to the redness and soreness.

It sounds like youmight have an allergy to the eyeliner that you are using. Even If you have used the same type for a long time, your body system changes all the time. Also, the manufacturer may have changed the ingredients used to produce the liner. Try using a different brand. Loreal makes a good liner that is self sharpening, I cant think of what they call it, but it is a good liner.

Your lids are probably just getting more irritated with it. Also try getting new pencils. The ones you're using may have germs on them that are causing your eye to be irritated. When you take your makeup off are you using a make-up remover? I find that vaseline works better. I've used makeup removers before and they tend to sting a little bit. Vaseline doesn't. Just make sure you take it all off with a hot washcloth.

Generally putting liner on the lids makes your eyes pop a little more, but it also makes them appear smaller. I say go without it. And taking some time away from makeup may help too. Let your eyes rest for a bit.

First, you may just be allergic to some of the ingredients that are put in eye liner in general.
>>>Yves Saint Laurent makes good eye liner that is not supposed to irritate they eyes.

Second, if you put the eyeliner on the inside rim of your eye, that may be irritating your eye too, which can also cause an infection. (It is usually better to put eye liner on on the outside of your eye)

If nothing else seems to help you after all of these options, you can rim your top lid with a dark black or brown eye shadow with a thin brush that will make it look like eye liner.

(You can also put on mascara instead if you like your eyes to look bigger.)

~~Good luck!

Do you wear your eye liner on the lash line, or on the inside part of your eye. If the later, your eye is sensitive to the liner and your getting a reaction. You should only wear eye liner on the lash line to prevent infection.

The lower eyelid is more sensitive than the upper one simjply because it is closer to the opened eye. You may have some sensitivity towards it. The question to ask yourself is. Is my eye more important than my looks^ For me my health is first, so if the eyeliner makes your eyes red. Forget about it. In the mean time you may also check hypoallergy stores. They sell for a lot more but if you like eye liner so badly and I wouldn't want you to sacrfice your eye and its health the pay the price. Good luck.

Is it liquid eyeliner or a kohl pencil? Most people use it as a kind of background behind the black or eyeliner. In other words, you'd put it on your upper lids (and lower part of the eye, depending how you like to wear your eyeliner) first, then the black eyeliner over it. But yes, as the other people said, it doesn't go well with any skin color, but give it a try!

I wear liquid eye liner too and i have had that happen..it is so painful..i think you should not use eyeliner if it's more than a yr old..i never use mascara that's more than 6 months. u might have bacteria in that particular one...throw it away and start using a new one..it's not worth making your eyes itch.

stop wearing eye liner, instead use a color of shadow that's comparable to the color you've put on your lids...I use the tip of a sponge shadow applicator and line my lower lids with that and it gives a slight smokey look to your eyes and the color you already have on..

It can be because you have a reaction to the liner...also maybe you arent wiping the whole part of your liner that should be washed...Feel better!
